Best Action Games of the Decade (PC)

It all started for me as a action gamer 10 years ago. Remember playing super mario, dave, doom of those days. I still cant believe “Blood” was truly amazing during that time with those great effects and instilled fear. It has been about past 10+ years and gaming industry gained huge popularity since then and produced some of the stunning games.

For those of you who are action gamer, make sure you checkout some of the best action games below, which i truly regard as some of the finest action games every made (atleast according to me). I love free roaming style games (Grand Theft Auto – GTA) and other action games couple with adventure. These open world free roaming games added fourth dimension to the games bringing variety of flavors into the game.

I thought i could recollect some of the greatest games i really enjoyed in the past years.

GTA San Andreas

I cant get rid of the memories of this unbelievable game. I enjoyed every second of it with some of its wonderful graphics and surely i would regard as the greatest game of the century which showcased ‘virtual freedom’. Although i agree that its bit difficult to finish missions it almost took me about 2-3 months to complete this game.

Half-Life & Half Life 2

Iconic Gordon Freeman game? This power packed Half-Life series really dominated the decade. This game truly the ultimate one with unbelievable graphics and fast performance. Even the older Half-Life was just awesome and the Half-Life 2 came with stunning graphics and some wonderful special effects.

Max Payne & Max Payne 2

Who can forget Max Payne? This game really moved me with a very good storyline and really brought some serious action and slow motion effects. This game is a classic example of how important storyline is and how much it effects the gameplay.

Call of Duty & Call of Duty 2

A classic World War 2 styled game and the experience of warplay is so realistic coupled with good action on the battlefield. I am really impressed with its graphics and fast performing game. This game brought gamers so close mimicking the real world war actions. Such an awesome WW2 game and nothing can complement it.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell – Double Agent

I truly believe that this is the game brought the natural attributes (staying away from light, producing less noise) into the gaming world. I really enjoyed the EMF pulse temporarily disabling light source and breaking number codes and stealth executions. This game is a classic example for action based stealth game.

GodFather

An excellent example for free roaming game showcasing historical values. It bought the true experience the NewYork city during the past century and had good action too. I really enjoyed hunting down gangsters with shotgun and thomson guns.

Mafia

Mafia is another free roaming game built on historical storyline. It had some good graphics and fast performing game.

DeltaForce – Black Hawk Down

A well improved military action game, which was greatly improved from predecessor Delta Force series and had very good graphics. The game playing experience was certainly enjoyable with good action.

Medal of Honor (Pacific Assault & later versions)

Another classy WW2 styled game and truly made every gamer feel the experience of being in the real war zone. The game had great graphics and showcased the reality of DDAY.

HitMan – Blood Money

A classy spy game that had everything in it. It demanded lots of thinking and most missions really demands silent executions. The action is really good if you want to deal with the mission objectives in the hard way (by shooting on open). Besides these the graphics cant get better. I would rate it as the best spy game ever made.

Prince of Persia – Two Thrones

A decade ago, i remembered playing Prince of Persia on a DOS based computer. Nothing has changed since then with such an improvised game masterpiece. This game had cool graphics and truly greatest game for ‘moves’ & ‘movement’ and can be regarded as one of the best action packed adventure game. I would regard this game as the best ever game for artwork.

Ghost Recon AWF & Ghost Recon 2

This game is a great example of a best urban combat game. Such a great game took a gamer to the realistic modern military combat. It had stunning graphics and the gaming experience of using the modern weapons was simply realistic. I felt this game little difficult as i least use tactical map.

BattleField 2 (and later versions)
A true multiplayer war combat game which had very good graphics and enabled the user to experience different types of weapons and combat vehicles.

Doom 3

Doom 3, much like its predecessor Doom shared the same storyline. However Doom 3 has great 3D graphics and showcased the best alien experience. It is one of the most fearsome games i had ever played.

Besides the above games, the following games cannot be forgotten when it comes to true action:

Hidden and Dangerous 2, Spiderman 2,
Tomb Raider (Legend & Anniversary), Unreal Tournament (and later editions), SWAT 4, Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Lockdown, F.E.A.R (First Encounter Assault Recon), Brothers in Arms

I am sure that there must be many games deserving lots of credit, yet the above games are truly best made games of the century, atleast from my personal experience.
