Easy way to file a trademark with USPTO Office.
When your business grows better daily you might be tempted to trademark your brand name for a product/service you sell. If you are pretty new to trademarks you can file online or get the services from a third party or attorney.
1. File the Trademark Yourself
Just go to http://www.uspto.gov website and you can find instructions there. It should cost about $399 and you can pay the trademark fee online. Remember to carefully complete the form and if you make mistakes your application will be rejected and you will lose the fee you paid. There is a separate fee for international class.
2. Hire Third Party Service
If you are new to trademarks it would be the best idea to hire them so that you could get some assistance while filing online. The best service i have seen is from Legalzoom.com as i am more than happy with their pricing structure. It costs about USD 160 for their assistance in online trademark filing.
3. Hire an Attorney
The professional way to file a trademark is to hire an attorney specializing in trademarks and patents. Be advised that it could cost more than $1000 to complete the formalities from searching to applying.
At the end of the day you have to decide what type of service you need. Should you chose the inexpensive way, the first two options are important. Before filing You should also be careful that you have to make an extensive search that no other marks collide with yours.
