Great overview but since the world is not only Windows focussed (which you should know as a linux sys admin!), I have the following comments on your list…
Writer Zone: Windows
Deepest Sender: FireFox/Seamonkey/XULrunner
BlogDesk: Windows
ScribeFire: FireFox plugin
Qumana Blog Editor: Windows/MacOSX
Pity that you don’t mention the functionalities on the above ones…
Finally I do know one for us linux users:
Bleezer: Windows/MacOSX and LINUX!

Hi,
I’d like to know if you have a favorite offline blog software that pings, tags and allows multiple blog postings.
I’m relatively new to all this, so any opinions are appreciated.
Thanks!

Bleezer is a nice one for Linux, although the configurations are all manual.
For MS Windows users, I prefer Live Writer.
