I have never compromised the speed loading of website at any costs. I necently noticed many times that social media buttons, especially twitter and facebook, causing the website to load very slow during peak times. Pulling the button data also puts load on the local server. You will never know when the social buttons cause a drag, because it entirely depends on the traffic to facebook and twitter.
I removed the buttons and replaced it using share-it which is fine by all standards. I was impressed by my site spead after removing the social buttons.
