If you are visiting Rome (Italy) for vacation or for your favorite italian trip, be sure to read the information below..you dont want any unexpected surprises during your visit.

First of all Rome is a big city and all the tourist attractions like Colosseum, Museum Palatino (Roman forum) and Vatican are crowded (during peak seasons) and when i visited Rome, it took atleast 2 days to complete Colosseum, Roman forum and Vatican. I would recommend to book your hotel atleast 3 or more days to see Rome.

From my experience, I found that both colosseum and vatican had long queues of lines especially in mornings, but dont worry in about 10 minutes all those lines are cleared quickly for entrance.

If you are in a hurry and want to take a quick tour of Rome, use hop off or open tour buses to see Rome.

Very Important Places in Rome (must see)

Vatican (St Peters square and basilica + Vatican museum)

Colosseum

Roman Forum & Museum Palatino

Pantheon

Capitol Hill

Trevis fountain

Via Nazionale

Via del corso (shopping street overlooking capitol hill)

Castel Angelo

Piazza del Popolo

Few warnings

Be warned that all museums are closed on Mondays, and if you want to visit museums, dont go on mondays. Get a map from Tourist information center and use the subway to navigate or perhaps you can also walk.

Be aware and keep guard of your baggages from pickpockets and dont put your wallets on the back. Put it on front. Ignore any strangers offering to help you.

P.S: Buy Roma pass (€ 30), if you are a museum lover and this way you get discounts on museums. Dont forget that you are entitled 2 free museums visit with Roma pass. You can also use public transport free for 3 days, ideal for tourists.

First of all, if you are coming to Venice (venezia) by train, the main train station is Venezia Santa Lucia (SL). This is the train station within the island and to see the city you have to land here. Venice maestre (central station) is another station outside the island, and its about 10 minutes connection time to the island. I took a night train from Vienna to Venice (paid for sleeper) and it was so nice and even breakfast and wine for the night all included. There is a direct train which starts from vienna by night and arrives at 0830 in the morning.

As soon as you arrive in Venice, you get free wifi (paid also) and i would advise to first get a map from City information centre (just outside the train station) and then proceed for sightseeing. The map isnt free and may cost you about 2.50 euros and its highly recommended to navigate the city and if you are first time traveler you might get lost without the map in the deep alleyways. Almost whole of venice can be walked by foot if you are afraid of water.

Keep in mind that San Marco (city centre and palace), Akademia (gallery museum), Santa Maria and Rialto are the most important places to visit in Venice. All you can find in map. I would recommend to spend atleast 2 days to see venice almost completely. Be sure to visit the Leonardo exhibits kept at museum and play around with his inventions and trust me its very good. Get a pass costs 30 euros for 3 days for public transport. Gondoliers are expensive for singles, but good to take a ride in Gondola if you are a big group.

If you are a non-EU citizen, with exception of US, Australia, NZ, you should be extra careful when taking this night train which runs from Budapest directly to Venice. The catch is the train often passes through Croatia, a non-schengen country, which means that you must apply for a Croatian transit visa, well before at the embassy. I heard many complaints that many surprise passport and customs checks are carried out in the Croatia and Slovenia border and you may be subjected to lots of inconvenience.

This is because Hungary (schengen) to Croatia (non-schengen) means passport control on out of schengen border and again Croatia (non-schengen) to Slovenia (schengen passport control), so all in all 2 checks.

View Train-routes in a larger map

Check in google maps, for the rail route and notice how train often touches and passes through the croatian border.

Be careful, you should be aware of visa requirements and rail companies do not inform you about any visa requirement. You are better off flying by air or taking a connecting train elsewhere (salzburg/vienna) and just make sure that you don’t go through Croatia or Serbia.

Be sure to carry your passport, while traveling between EU countries, either by air or train in Europe. You will never know when it will be asked. I was traveling by train, from vienna to Munich and as soon as train entered the German border, couple of guys showed their ID to me, saying they are passport control and demanded my passport for verification. Looks like Germany has very strict passport controls. I heard similar train checks in Serbia, Netherlands, Slovakia etc..

It is always better be safe than sorry for not carrying your passport.

Even at times, when booking international train/bus tickets, sometimes you will be asked for your passport. They wouldnt accept any other ID like residence card etc..

You can book train tickets online with Deutsche Bahn / RailJet, but you will need to carry your credit card/passport as ID, which you will need to show to the ticket inspector.

For weeks i have been struggling to make my samsung ML-1610 printer work in Mac OSX. I searched for the ML-1610 driver all around the web and it seems no driver made at all for Mac.

After much of hard work..i found a way to make the printer work in Mac OS Leopard. Here is how you do it….

1. Install the driver of Samsung ML-1710 in your mac. You can download here

2. Go to Printer settings, select printer driver and add driver by locating ML-1710.

Now print. Your ML-1610 printer will print and it would work like a charm! Never thought it would be that easy!

In the current economy many people are choosing to operate home-based businesses of many types. Sometimes these businesses supplement a full-time job but for many people it is their sole means of support. One of the main players in a home-based business is a computer system, but this also brings up another question: should you invest in a PC or a Mac? In order to answer that question you need to consider the advantages and disadvantages of both and weigh them in order to make the decision that is right for you.

Advantages of a PC

Sadly the decision to choose a PC over a Mac is quickly and without much thought. People are familiar with a PC and are often fearful of venturing into the unknown. This is not the only reason people choose a PC by any means. Some of the other reasons people select the PC include the following:

Availability of software

Ease of use

Upgrade capabilities (especially with the operating system)

Price

Interchangeable components

Disadvantages of a PC

For all the good software it offers, the PC is not necessarily the best choice for your business. There are some other things you want to keep in mind before you make a decision to invest in a PC or a Mac. Some of the disadvantages relative strictly to a PC include the following:

Need to constantly be on the look out for security leaks

Hard drive has a tendency to crash or become corrupt

Easily infected with viruses, adware, malware, Trojans and other malicious software

Requires a substantial amount of RAM and processor speed in order to assure high quality browsing and processing of information.

Software and hardware tend to become obsolete quickly

This does not mean you should not invest in a PC by any means, but you want to make sure you understand both the advantages and disadvantages in order to choose carefully. Most importantly, protect your system from viruses and your data from any unexpected hard drive crash.

Advantages of a Mac

As a writer I have come across many people who are hard-core lovers of Macs. They will tell you they switched and will never return to the PC, and after working on one for a couple of months now I can understand some of their reasoning though I am still finding it difficult to find files as easily as I could on Window XP. Here are some things to consider that separates Mac from a PC:

Less prone to viruses and other malicious software

Hard drive almost never crashes

Graphics and sound quality are superior to the PC, an advantage for those who use a computer for those functions

System is more stable and last longer than the average PC

In my own personal experience I have noticed the lack of pop up windows that still irritated me when I was on a PC even though I used a pop up blocker. Those who are adamant to talk people into a Mac will tell you that they do not succumb to viruses, but the only reason for that is because they are less popular than the PC. Unfortunately that is changing, and we may begin to see viruses written to infect the Mac operating system in the future. However, for now the Mac remains more stable than the PC.

Disadvantages of the Mac

There is no doubt it can be difficult to find software that is comparable to the Windows environment, especially if you are running on an older Mac, and I can speak from experience on that. I recently switched to a Mac because my daughter’s former employer was giving one away, and I was in dire need of a new computer system. Unknown to my daughter at the time, the computer did not have an Intel processor but the older Power PC.

Mac does not have the capability of allowing users to upgrade the processor, so this means those who are working on an older processor cannot upgrade to a newer version of Office and will find themselves restricted on any software programs that require an Intel processor. Of course, this is of little importance unless you are planning to buy an older Mac and is something you want to keep in mind before you make a purchase.

Price is a major drawback when comparing the Mac to the PC. At the same time you need to look at the longevity. If you tend to keep up with all the latest trends and buy a new computer every few years, the cost of a Mac is not feasible for you. However, if you hold onto systems and upgrade rather than replace, the cost of the Mac will override the lower cost of the PC that will likely only last about five years even with upgrades.

Summary

The issue of importance is for you as a business owner to evaluate your long-term needs and determine which system is best for you. Certainly if you need high graphic or sound quality you want to choose the Mac, but you also want to analyze and evaluate all the options—you may even want to try both systems before you make a final decision.

I am sure everybody loves to eat or you can be a gourmet! Be careful with what you eat and its these eating food is the major contributing factor for most illnesses and diseases. It can be anything from common cold, losing sleep, headaches to cancer. Being selective and cautious on what you eat, can keep you away from hospital for eternity.

We come from a family of ancestors who were remarkable in understanding the human body and in learning medicine and they often preached

“Its often that the food we eat is the main cause for over 90% diseases incured. The human body is the “ultimate machine” and every human is very unique from other and there could be million reasons for it. Its your body and its you who control it.. Knowing what your body accepts or rejects and what to eat is in itself a remarkable medical skill one can acquire”.

As you grow older and older, your body defense also gets older and older and so any unhealthy eating habits, will put you in illness very often.

Its is very simple to know what to and what NOT to eat! if you are sick, just recollect what food you have eaten in the past 12-24hrs and try pick the odd one you have eaten today or something new in past 24hrs, rather than what you take regularly. It can be from chocolates to a mighty feast you could have had in a party! Those that stick out of your regular ones are the culprits and your body is rejecting! Know it and avoid eating those next time..

I know most people would quickly dismiss these theories as old adage but i am writing this in my personal opinion.

I am posting this article because i really appreciate these native people on their remarkable skill in showing others how to live your life staying away from hospital. Its the these people who live in villages or in places, far off cities with little or no medical knowledge tend to live longer and have lengthy life span than those who live in major cities. Many of whom haven’t even been to a hospital in their lifetime.

iPad has just arrived in India and if you have purchased the 3G + wifi model, you can easily connect to Internet using a prepaid sim purchased from Airtele, vodafone, Bsnl or other. Just make sure that 3G is available with your service provider. It’s easy to connect to wifi in iPad but the challenge is setting up 3G internet to your iPad with your mobile sim. Wifi though still popular in India but not available everywhere.

To setup your iPad connect to Internet using 3G, follow the steps…

Keep in mind that iPad only supports microsim and if you have brought ordinary simcard it will not fit through in the iPad sim slot. Otherwise you will need to cut the simcard to fit accordingly. Make sure that you activate GPRS Internet and 3G Internet in the simcard through a mobile before using on your iPad because you will not be able to send SMS or phone calls once it’s in iPad

To open the simslot look for a small silver jumper attached to booklet which you should have in your box. Take it press down the small hole and the sim tray will eject. The sim tray will be on your bottom left in your iPad. Look for a hole.

Once you insert sim in your iPad it should recognise your mobile service provider all you have to do is enter APN settings in cellular data settings. For Airtel you will need to enter airtelgprs.com. Optionally to speed up Internet you can enter google DNS 8.8.8.8,8.4.4 under DNS.

That’s it open your safari and you should be able to access high speed Internet using 3G. You check the data usage under about in your iPad.

Make sure you register an account with apple app store because without applications, there isn’t any fun with iPad.
