I have been facing this dreadful problem in the past few days with my BSNL internet connection. The worst thing is the DSL is very unstable (blinks frequently) and disconnects very often and most cases i cant even work for 5 minutes.

I realised after a frustating night, i heard the phone dial tone and i hear the `crack crack` line noise in the line. This despite having used the ADSL splitter. Be careful that most splitters which are chinese made are not good quality and may amplify the line noise. After consulting with phone technicial i was asked to replace the phone line and the new splitter.

If you face any problems like this you may need to check out for the faulty adsl splitter or a telephone cable.

Troubleshooting

To successfully fix the problem follow the steps.

1. Take out your phone cable out of modem and plug into your phone and see if you can hear phone dial tone properly. DSL lights may not blink or become unstable if you have faulty phone line or have lot of noise in it.

2. Double check the ADSL splitter and this is the most common cause of internet problems. Go to electronic store and buy it and see if that works. It just costs about $1 and may well solve all your problems.

3. To check the statistics of the connection, login to your modem/router using http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.168.1/ using your login and password and check the DSL connection statistics

If you see lot of super frame errors, then surely the packets are getting lost in the transmission. Below is a very short guide on the numbers involved.

SNR Margin (Signal to Noise Ratio Margin) – You have to watch out for SNR Margin (usually in 20′s) and if it is too low you may get disconnected often.

Line Attenuation – It measures loss of signal over distance and its value in 20′s means excellent

SNR Margin

A higher signal to noise ratio will result in less errors.

6bB. or below = Bad – experience intermittent synchronisation problems.

7dB-10dB. = Fair

11dB-20dB. = Good

20dB-28dB. = Excellent

29dB. or above = Outstanding

Attenuation Rates

Attenuation is the loss of signal over distance. Unfortunately, dB loss is not just dependent on distance. It also depends on cable type and length of the cable, including location other connection points on the cable.

20bB. and below = Outstanding

20dB-30dB. = Excellent

30dB-40dB. = Very Good

40dB-50dB. = Good

50dB-60dB. = Poor and may experience connectivity issues

60dB. and above = Bad and will experience connectivity issues

Shrink High Resolution Photo to small size for Upload

Nowadays sharing photos online has become so common among many people and most photos come out of camera device have huge file sizes because of more resolution and megapixel. The more the resolution and megapixel the larger the filesize. The fact is you wont even need the photos with the bigger size (> 4mb per photo). Imagine you have about 10 photos you need to upload and each photo is 3mb is size. It consumes a lot of time during upload

The way to go is shrink any photo so that it is less than 1mb and without losing quality. Most photos are JPEG format and you will need to shrink the photo and keep width of less than 1000px which would obviously bring down the filesize.

How to shrink

1. Download Irfanview photo viewer. It is FREE!
2. Type CTRL+R or resize from menu.
3. Enter the resolution within 1000px or if you want even less size try 800×600 resolution.
4. Save as desired fileformat JPEG. Dont forget that JPEG is the best format for photos.

Thats it! You will have less size and you will find pretty easy to upload many files.

how to convert video from avi to DVD?

i am not a pro when comes to video editing and conversion. I am sharing here some of the easy tips on converting large avi file to dvd format.

My situation:

I had a 3 hour very large home video (about 30GB file size) in avi format from my Sony Handycam in miniDV cassette.

What i wanted

My goals were to transcode/convert the 3hr video from miniDV cassette and compress the video in such a way to get accommodated it on single 4.7GB dvd (not in multiple dvd disks) without compromising the video quality and very importantly playable in most DVD players.

I searched all over the web on how to convert the video in avi format and write to DVD and the answers were hard to find. Very soon i found the answer was just around the corner.

Answer:

The answer is NERO DVD writing software. I had a version 6 that i owned and never knew it would do such a wonderful job. I imported all video clips through i.Link cable (Firewire port) and the total size of the video is about 30GB. The software prompted me to automatically to fit the video to available dvd space and viola! Its done! In my case it took almost 2hrs to write to DVD and the effort was well worth it.

Conclusion:

Once everything is completed, i noticed that by lowering the sampling rate of video, the whole video was compressed and got inside single DVD disk. The whole file size was only 3.2GB and the quality of video was really good when i had a look on having played in a DVD player.

NOTE: You must only use DV/Firewire port along with i.Link cable to get best picture quality. Dont use USB port to import video as it would get more noise and the quality of video would get degraded significantly.

While installing NERO suite you have install Nero Vision express which is very important to do this video task.

- Negative balance
- SIM not activated
- Weak signal strength.

All of them dont apply to me

This is very disappointing and quite frustrating experience!. I am not sure how to fix this problem.
Please post here if anybody getting the same trouble and if possible a solution.

Update: It appears to be the internet has now started working. I think it was activation problem and they need to come to your home for verification (postpaid). And after that i was able to connect to internet without any problems.

Markup editors set a new trend on the Web and i have seen many many websites use markup editors than using WYSIWYG editors. The main difference between WYSIWYG editors and Markup editors is markup editors insert markup html or bbcode in textarea while WYSIWYG editors give rich text environment to users.
Sending press releases to media is considered an important marketing method commonly employed by many businesses and internet firms very often.

A very well crafted press release if picked up by a journalist can bring enormous free publicity to you through broadcast media and other outlets. Often many people have been invited to TV shows and radio interviews.

You dont need to be a expert write to draft a press release. It can be very easy to write if you just follow few tips while writing a press release and it wouldnt cost you a penny if you post to many free Online Press Release websites.

Important Tips

• Press releases are not like sales letters promoting products. It should only be written keeping news readers and general public in mind.

• Do not write press release titles in CAPITAL LETTERS. It just irritates news readers and many moderators wouldnt approve such releases. Do you know that writing in CAPS considered as SHOUTING

• Get a catchy title and it should grab attention to readers immediately. It should be short and one line only

• It is very important to publish your contact address and phone so that any journalist could get in touch with you. With the contact info, your press release will lose credibility and will be rejected by many PR distribution websites.

Sample Press Release Format

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (date)
[Title Here]
(Example: XYZ Inc announces launch of new website <>)

Description: (optional) This is a very short description about the press release. some distribution sites will ask for this.

[CITY], [STATE],[Date] – [This is the opening paragraph. It should contain about 3-5 lines and considered most important since this catches attention of news readers and journalists. Typically questions for questions of who, what, when, where and why answered here. Keep it short and highlight what’s whole release is all about.]

[This paragraph goes into little depth. Give more details of product or any events taking place. This should contain about 2 comments made by spokespersons. For example, Mr. XXX said “xxxx”.]

[This paragraph focus on where users can find detailed information about product or events. Give a contact or website site for more information so that more additional information can be found. This paragraph should be concluded within 3-5 lines]

[The conclusive paragraph is known the “boilerplate” and can contain no more than 2-3 lines. A short "about" section, providing independent background on the issuing company, organization, or individual. Here you should explain future aspects, your or aim in meeting the current market or success. In general what you intend to do achieve.]

Contact Information:
[Company Name]
[Address]
[Telephone]
[Website]

###
(This mark lets the reader know that it is the end of the article.)

[Editors Note: optional]
