I was having terrible problem with my widescreen 19” LCD monitor and everytime i look at it the screen flickers and often caused me headaches and couldnt work for a longer period of time. The optimum resolution for my monitor was 1440×900 @60hz.
I tried to set the monitor refresh rate to 75hz and flickers disappeared. Unfortunately i had a new problem. My screen trembles, the screen produces a shaking effect.
It took me long months until i figured out who the culprit was. It was the male-to-male vga cable that i used without ferrite core. The moment i replaced the cable another one with two ferrite cores and never had a problem with flickering. Worked like a charm to me.
Here i how to fix flickering problem in LCD monitors:
1. Make sure you set the monitor be it widescreen or high resolution to its default optimum resolution with 60hz monitor refresh rate. If you set to other resolution, the fonts in display will look pixelated and you will lose its sharpness.
2. Try setting the refresh rate higher than 60hz, if you experience flickering. Many people say that setting the refresh rate higher than 60hz would remove flickers on your screen.
3. There could be a noise (from devices near your cable) that could cause flickering. Make sure that you have your VGA cable with ferrite cores on each side. This is very important as these cores remove interference in the signals.
Good luck!
