Grenada’s citizenship by investment scheme has been ranked as No.1 in the world in the recently released Best Citizenships Rankings for 2020. The mathematical model looked into more than 30 factors, with client expectations in mind, before predicting the best citizenship by investment program among 11 schemes.
Grenada launched CBI scheme in August 2013, when the Grenadian Parliament passed CBI Act No. 15 of 2013 to grant permanent residency and passport to investors in the country.
No wonder the scheme topped the rankings, because Grenadian citizenship scheme often touted as Gold standard in the CBI industry.
Grenada also offers extensive passport benefits such as visa free movement to major countries in the world EU/UK, Russia, China and also a provision to apply for E-2 investor visa to enter United States.
This is the first time a caribbean country has been ranked in the top spot above European investor passport schemes.
Since the launch of the citizenship scheme, Grenada has issued more than 3000 passports to citizenship investors, some of those invested in five star hotels and resorts funded by CBI scheme in Grenada.
Currently Grenada requires $150,000 donation to state fund or a $220,000 real estate investment to secure a passport. It is one of the best CBI schemes in the Caribbean and its pricing is way cheaper than European schemes such as Malta/Cyprus, costing millions
The BCBI model assigned weights to each feature such as Low Pricing, Passport time, personal visits, physical residence requirements, Privacy, Visa waivers, due diligence, voting rights, transparency, human development indicators and living conditions, education, healthcare, strong currency etc..
The CBI schemes in Europe performed better than Caribbean schemes, with the exception of Grenada. Vanuatu and St Lucia dropped in rankings despite being attractive passport schemes. Cyprus, Malta and Montenegro moved up in rankings compared to the previous year above Malta.
