Youtube is fast replacing TVs and their programs. You may be watching youtube all night using your mobile phone through personal hotspot. Youtube videos are hungry for GB’s of data if you watch in high definition. But there is a trick to save data bandwidth. Infact, you dont need to watch videos in 1080px and 720px at all.
Just reduce the video quality, youtube defaults to auto.
Just click on the settings > set the video resolution to 480px removing auto > Thats it.
You can also reduce to 360px or 240px which is not bad all. The picture quality is still much better (if you have old TV supporting LCD/LED)
For example to watch 1 hour of video following data will be consumed on your mobile devices.
- 240p: 220 MB
- 360p: 315 MB
- 480p: 550 MB
- HD 720p at 60FPS: 1.7GB
- HD 1080p at 60FPS: 3 GB
- 4K @60fps – 16 GB
Remember you pay for your data. Save and use it wisely!!!
