Top 10 Best and Worst Passports in the World for 2018

Henley and Partners have released 2018 Henley Passport index rankings, again ranked Germany’s passport as the best passport in the world, followed by Singapore passport having the most visa free travel countries. The worst passports are Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Somalia

The Henley Passport Index is the original and most authoritative passport index, with historical data spanning 13 years. The index and its contents are based on data provided by IATA and supplemented, enhanced, and updated using extensive in-house research and open-source online data.

The index includes 199 different passports and 219 different travel destinations. Updated regularly throughout the year, the Henley Passport Index is the most robust and reliable index of its kind.

Henley Worst Passports

 

Jim Rogers, investment legend recently said  “Having One Passport is Very Dangerous. “Over the next 20 years, being trapped with only one passport, you could suffer very badly.”

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), in 33rd place, has shown the most dramatic growth, climbing a remarkable 28 places since 2008 — the biggest climb of any country in the world.

Emirati nationals have seen the highest gains in travel freedom over the past decade By Marco Gantenbein, Managing Partner, Henley & Partners Dubai, Head of Middle East.

Dr. Christian H. Kälin, Group Chairman, Henley & Partners, commented , European countries have shown the best performance on the 2018 Henley Passport Index. Out of the 28 countries that fill the top 10 ranks on the index, 21 are European. No European country saw a reduction in its total visa-free score in 2018;

“Alternative citizenship represents the most direct route to global mobility, connectivity, and access. Individuals who have multiple passports benefit from each country’s best practices and are less vulnerable to its risks and shortcomings. The Henley Passport Index is relevant to anyone seeking to strengthen their level of access as well as to governments trying to understand their passport power in a global context,” concludes Dr. Kälin.

Malta and Cyprus are the only countries in Europe with official Alternative Citizenship by Investment Programs in Europe.

The St Kitts and Nevis Passport tops among Caribbean CBI passports in the recently launched 2018 Henley Passport Index,. St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Grenada and Dominica are the only five countries offering CBI passports through the official citizenship by investment programmes in the Caribbean.
